Dentist Near Newport TN

Quick Answer

Elite Smiles provides comprehensive dental care for patients searching for a dentist near Newport TN. If you have several dental concerns at once, our Knoxville team can evaluate the entire mouth, identify the problems that most affect health and function, and organize treatment into a logical order rather than approaching each tooth as an unrelated issue.

Dentist Near Newport TN

Dental problems have an inconvenient habit of arriving together. A patient may have one tooth that hurts, another with a broken filling, gums that bleed during brushing, and an older crown they have been meaning to ask about. When several concerns compete for attention, the first question becomes simple: Where do we start? For patients coming from Newport to Elite Smiles dentists in Knoxville, a comprehensive evaluation can turn a collection of individual problems into a manageable treatment plan.

First, Deal With What Threatens the Tooth

Some findings deserve priority because waiting can reduce the chances of preserving a natural tooth.

Infection, significant fractures, swelling, and deep decay fall into that category.

A tooth with bacteria inside the pulp may require root canal treatment. A crack can worsen as chewing forces repeatedly flex the damaged structure. Advanced decay can remove enough healthy tooth that a simple filling is no longer reliable.

Addressing these problems first helps protect teeth that still have a good chance of being restored.

Then Look at Function

A mouth is a working system.

Missing teeth, damaged restorations, uneven bite forces, and worn teeth can change how you chew. One side may begin carrying more pressure because the other side feels uncomfortable.

That can place additional stress on teeth that were previously healthy.

Restoring comfortable function may involve repairing a damaged tooth, replacing a failing restoration, or addressing a missing tooth that has changed the bite.

The right sequence differs from patient to patient.

Gum Health Can Affect Everything Else

Restorative dentistry works better in a healthy environment.

Inflamed gums can bleed easily and become more difficult to keep clean. Periodontal disease can weaken the structures that support the teeth.

For that reason, dentists sometimes address gum health before moving forward with more extensive restorative or cosmetic treatment.

Professional tooth cleanings remove tartar that brushing cannot. If periodontal disease has progressed farther, additional treatment may be necessary to control inflammation below the gumline.

Not Every Problem Has the Same Deadline

One of the most useful parts of a treatment plan is knowing what can wait.

A small, stable area may only need monitoring. A worn but intact filling might continue functioning. Cosmetic dentistry should wait until health and function are stable.

Those distinctions help patients avoid treating every dental finding as equally urgent.

They also make it easier to spread treatment over time when appropriate.

What If You Want to Improve Your Smile Too?

Health problems do not cancel cosmetic goals.

They simply affect the order.

Once the teeth and gums are stable, patients can discuss concerns such as discoloration, worn edges, chips, spacing, or older dental work that no longer looks natural.

Sometimes one treatment solves both functional and cosmetic problems. Replacing a damaged restoration, for example, may strengthen a tooth while also improving its appearance.

The important part is planning from a healthy foundation.

How Does a Dentist Decide What Comes First?

Dentists consider the risk of progression, current symptoms, structural stability, infection, gum health, and the way the teeth function together.

Patient priorities matter too.

Someone preparing for an important event may care about appearance, while another patient wants to restore comfortable chewing first.

A good plan accounts for both clinical needs and the patient’s circumstances without losing sight of what protects long-term oral health.

Common Questions About Planning Dental Treatment

Can I fix only the tooth that hurts?

You can certainly address the painful tooth first, but a comprehensive exam may reveal other concerns that deserve monitoring or treatment later.

Do several cavities have to be filled at the same appointment?

Not always. Your dentist can explain whether treatment can be staged and which areas should receive priority.

Why would gum treatment come before a crown or cosmetic work?

Healthy gums support restorative treatment and make it easier to maintain the finished result.

Can I ask for a written treatment plan?

Yes. A clear treatment plan can help you understand the recommended sequence and discuss scheduling or financial considerations.

I cannot say thank you enough to Dr. Block and his staff. I had to have a root canal two weeks ago and they got me in within 24 hours of scheduling. He was incredibly professional and caring for everything I had to say. I never had a cavity before, let alone a root canal. My teeth are incredibly sensitive and he paid extreme condition with me being pregnant of what he could and couldn’t do for me. After my appointment, I found out that I needed another root canal after a normal cavity filling did not work at my general dentist. I had an extreme emergency. I couldn’t sleep at night because I was in so much pain. I didn’t know what to do, so I called Dr. Block and he said he would get me in the next day. Despite him being fully booked, he still saw me and performed a root canal. I would highly recommend him to anyone and am so thankful for the work he did. I’m going thru one of the worst seasons of my life outside of these teeth issues, and it’s so comforting to know there are specialists that care about people because they are in need. Thank you, Dr. Block for everything. I’m thanking the Lord this evening for guiding your hands and giving you the ability to help people. I hope you were able to finally have some lunch after your shift and some rest. It is well deserved!

Went here Saturday 1-3-2026 for an emergency tooth extraction from a tooth that was making me so sick. All the people here are SO caring and professional I don't know what I would've done without them being open on Saturday, quite literally they saved my life. Best dentist I've ever visited, highly recommend!!!

I have always had the biggest fear of dentists. I had a terrible tooth infection, and they were able to get me in as a new client the very next day (right before thanksgiving!) I wish I had the name of the nurse who sat with me, played music, gave me graham crackers, and held my hand throughout the entire experience. So incredibly grateful for these guys.

I had my first big dental procedure here this week, and the assistant for the procedure, Nina, did the absolute most in making me less anxious, reassuring me throughout the procedure, and explaining everything to me without judgement. Her kindness and care made me comfortable and safe.

I waited with a bad tooth until it was throbbing up to my ear. They took me in as a new patient in less than 2 hours. The front desk staff were friendly and efficient. At triage, DeeDee was welcoming & understanding. Dr. Harris is top notch - he put me at ease with caring comments, then made sure I had a pain-free extraction. He was so efficient that I didn't even realize when the tooth was out. Detailed care instructions were given and I left feeling much better than I felt going in!

Dr. Miller and his assistant ((her name started with a K, I am terrible at names) that saw me Saturday were absolutely phenomenal in every way. Kindness and projecting a safety and secureness that I have not experienced in 10 or 15 years at a dentist office. Elite Smiles, these two individuals are not replaceable. You can fake alot of things, but true human kindness and decency is not able to be reproduced. He explained every single thing he did in my mouth and also executed the procedure in a timely manner and his assistant matched his care in every single way. I have been coming here for about 3 years now. I have had great experiences with everyone I've seen, however, this past Saturday was an EPIC dentist visit I have only gotten to experience maybe twice in my lifetime. Thanks and every single one of you are AWESOME 👌 I WILL NEVER GO ANYWHERE ELSE. PERIOD At triage, DeeDee was welcoming & understanding. This review is for my cleaning on 7/24/2025 with Andi (the lady from California). Background - due to some things that transpired in my life, I was broke and couldn’t go to the dentist for 8 years. When my situation changed, I went to see Dr. Chad Lasperowski in NoVA and I explained to them why I hadn’t been, and they treated me great. In fact, their practice does the Washington Redskins/Commanders. Anyway, first rate service. This is my 3rd time coming to Elite Smiles. The first time was ok, but the 2nd time I was in and out in like 20 minutes and I assumed that my teeth didn’t have a great deal of buildup. But today, Andi showed me the pictures of my teeth and it’s clear that the lady who did my cleaning on my 2nd visit, who didn’t take pictures and I saw today, rushed me out of there without being thorough. So today, when we started, Andi was doing the things that Dr. Kasperowski did. Put numbing stuff on my gums, explained everything and asked questions…..first rate service. At the end of the cleaning I made my next appointment with Andi and asked for her cell so if she left, I’d follow her. She told me she couldn’t do that as it is illegal so I shared my experience with Lisa both at the counter and via phone call. Bottom line…..KEEP ANDI!! She is THE BEST!!! I don’t want to drive 6 hours back to DC as I did for 2 years but I will.
